Fergie “Evans Is Best Defender In England”

21 Apr

When Nemanja Vidic was ruled out for the season many United fans were worried that Jonny Evans would not be able to fill the void. Now we are approaching the end of the season and Evans has been one of United’s best players this season. Sir Alex has gone as far as saying that he thinks he is the best defender in the country.

“I don’t know what the fans thought but there were never any doubts in my mind about Evans. He had a period of a few injuries but he has toughened up now, he’s done a lot of work in the gymnasium and he’s 24 years of age. He’s been a top player for us this year. There is no doubt he has been helped playing alongside the experience of Rio and he is now arguably the best defender in the country.

“I must admit my heart sank a little when I learned just how long Nemanja Vidic was going to be out. He and Rio Ferdinand had become the cornerstone of our defence but Rio responded brilliantly, despite his back problem, and has now struck up a fine partnership with Evans. Together they have been rock solid to give us great consistency in defence.”

Hazard – “Pleasure To Be Watched By Fergie”

13 Mar

Eden Hazard is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Europe at the moment and he has hinted at a move to Manchester United after being watched by Sir Alex in a recent match. Fergie made the trip to watch Hazard play for Lille against Lyon. Hazard has also been linked to Chelsea and Tottenham but French press are reporting that United are now favourites to sign the 21 year old Belgian.

When asked about the link to Man United Hazard said “Of course, this is a club that excites anyone. For now my focus is on Lille but yes, it is a pleasure to be watched by one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best.”

Shearer Thinks David Moyes Should Take Over From Fergie

12 Mar

The man to eventually take over at United from Sir Alex is a topic which everybody has an opinion on. Former England striker Alan Shearer is the latest to give his opinion and has said that United should go for Everton manager David Moyes. Moyes has recently celebrated 10 years at Everton and Sir Alex has also spoken in the past about David Moyes being a possible candidate when he does retire. For Shearer, Moyes is the only candidate for the job.

Shearer said “There is plenty of talk, understandably, about Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola and undoubtedly they would be leading candidates. But for me I would go half an hour up the road and offer it to David Moyes. ”

“United will want a seamless transition to ensure that the success created over Ferguson’s incredible reign continues. I genuinely believe Moyes would provide this.”

“A manager who knows the Premier League and knows how to win in it. A tough Scot with a similar background to Ferguson, he is a proper manager of men.”

Fergie Sets Rooney 40 Goal Challenge

12 Mar

Rooney scored his 26th goal of the season against West Brom and Sir Alex is now challenging Rooney to hit 40 by the end of the season. Rooney has been in excellent goal scoring form this season and is eight goals behind the best total in his career. That best goals total came two seasons ago when he scored 34 goals. Sir Alex thinks that the key to the title is Rooney’s goals.

Sir Alex said “If he gets to 40 I’ll be absolutely delighted because we’re at the business end of the season. He’s on a hot streak and does these things.”

Pogba Staying?

11 Mar

With reports over the last few days suggesting that Paul Pogba had agreed a move to Juventus everybody was shocked to see him on the bench for the match against West Brom. Pogba replaced Scholes late on increasing speculation that he will not be moving to Juventus after all. There has been no confirmation that he has signed with anybody but this does suggest that he may well be staying. One thing we know for sure is that Fergie would not give him game time if he was definitely leaving.

Speaking before the game about Pogba’s situation Sir Alex said ‘I can’t tell you anything about it because I do not know”.

Joe Hart – “Great Honour For Sir Alex To Mention My Name”

8 Mar

In an interview last month, Sir Alex spoke about how he tried to sign Man City keeper Joe Hart before he moved to City. “I could have bought Joe Hart for £100,000 so we all make mistakes,” he said. In a recent interview Hart was asked about Fergie’s comments and he didn’t hesitate in praising the United manager.

“It’s a great honour that someone like Sir Alex Ferguson goes out of his way to mention my name. Hopefully it speaks volumes for how I’m doing at the moment. For someone who I respect greatly and who I grew up admiring in football to say that is a great honour.”

“I’m not quite sure what he meant by it but he’s got fantastic goalkeepers there with Lindegaard and David de Gea.”

Sheringham Wants Mourinho At United

3 Mar

Former United striker Teddy Sheringham had the privilege of working under Sir Alex and winning several trophies whilst doing so. When Sir Alex eventually retires Sheringham believes that there is only one man who can take over and that man is Jose Mourinho.

“I think that Mourinho would be ideal for United. It is going to be one of the best jobs in football when Sir Alex retires – but also one of the most difficult. It will be intimidating to follow a man who has achieved so much. Mourinho is one of the few people who could handle it. There is no doubt in my mind about that.”

“He is a proven winner. And it will need a special individual to take over at Old Trafford when that job eventually comes up. He could handle it, I am sure of that.”

“I understand that he and Sir Alex get on well so, you never know, he might have been given the nod about it. For me, he would be the one to take over if he is given the chance.”
